Karonga School

Two players down but soldiered on!

Suffering the loss of a couple of key players due to illness the U6 White B team had a tough loss on Saturday morning. Despite no subs and some bitterly cold conditions our little players did their absolute best and made us very proud of them. Alana set the tone in her usual skillful manner with a cracking goal in the first few minutes of the match. Moments later, with her first goal of the season Ruby kicked one into the back of the net. The opponents resorted to a handball to try and protect the goal but the referrees decision was final and Ruby got her well deserved and waited for goal!
Several other great shots at goal by Alana and George sadly didn't convert this week. George and Max did their best defending and tackling but as the game wore on the little legs got a bit tired. Alana proved once again that she is a player to be reckoned with both defending and attacking with great gusto and being the well deserved recipient of player of the match. The parents and coach all agreed that Ruby had her match of the season...it was so wonderful watching her focus and determination and the goal really topped it off. Looking forward to having a full team back on board next week.

Never give up!

It was an early cold start for the U6 Whites on Saturday but the rain and cold did not dampen their enthusiasm. Up 3-0 in the early minutes of the match and we were on a roll. Some fabulous goals from Alana (2), Callum (2) and Zach (1) who have all proven to be consistent strikers throughout the season. Great defensive work and team play by Max, Ruby and George supporting the team was lovely to see. The opponents rallied with some quick goals and the end score has us at a loss of 5-8. Ruby got a well deserved player of the match. The team are excited for the World Cup tournament at training this week...onwards and upwards for our might little team.

Win(5-2) against Thornleigh

Oakleigh Oval

Magnificent Win!

What a great game on a cold wintry Saturday morning. U6 Orange were on fire despite not having our amazing coach Darren on hand for advise and encouragement. The Thornleigh side looked like very strong opposition but looks can be deceiving. The U6 Oranges got off to a good start and the supporters were delighted to see an early goal from George. This is his first goal of the season and the disbelief on his face that he had bullet-ed one into the back of the net was priceless. The goals than came fast and furious from Alana, Callum and Zac. The whole team played so well together and really enjoyed the match. The enjoyment of the players is so evident now we struggle to get our guys to sub off they are having so much fun. Max point blankly refused to sub off as he continued to support his team with determination and putting his new skills to the test in the match environment. The coach agreed that whilst everyone was player of the match in his book, this weeks trophy would go to Max. Looking forward to next weeks game now!

Draw(6-6) with Pennant Hills FC

Hayes Park

Warm up for gala day

U6 Oranges took an early lead on Saturday with goals from Callum and Alana our consistently strong strikers.
George and Max assisted in defense and had a few good tackles and whacks of the ball. Our coach Darren encouraging them to get involved and follow up on some good kicks and dribbling.
Player of the match went to Zach - undoubtedly one of the most improved players on our team and turning into a great little tackler! The final result was a draw as our team tired towards the end of the game. A good warm up for Gala day!

Sausage sandwiches for everyone!

After a slow start as our opponents put together a side and one of our players kindly volunteered to play for them for the first half the U6 Oranges took control of the game. A huge victory saw a run of goals from our striker Callum who just seems to get better and better every week. Goals also came through from Alana, Zac and George into the second half. The whole team played very well together with some passing and strategic play starting to take shape. Max and Ruby did great jobs in defense and gave the supporters a wonderful match to support. The victory was rounded off with sausage sandwiches and medals for the whole team which they loved. Everyone sad to have a Bye next week but we will keep the momentum going thanks to our tremendous coach Darren and assistant coach Henry.

Little guys brave the cold and rain!

Our U6 team made us proud on Saturday as they braved the cold and rain for a 2-2 draw against Epping B. Last time we met this team we lost 5-12 to them so this showed how much our team have significantly improved over the season. We saw a great goal from Callum and some fantastic team play from Alana, Max and Zach. No subs this week so the team fought through tumbles and rogues balls to the face. We were super proud of them. An own goal by Epping in the dying minutes of the game gave us the 2-2 draw. Zach was player of the match - a well deserved award for Zach who has improved beyond words and had an excellent game.

Loss(4-7) to Redbacks c

View St, West Pennant Hills

Tough opposition!

Well matched against a strong team the U6 Orange had their work cut out for them early on a beautiful Sydney morning. Our team came out strong going 2 up in the first few minutes. Alana once again proving her worth with a great goal. Fabulous defensive pressure from Max, George and Zac allowed us to benefit from an own goal shortly after. Half time mandarins and a slightly early feeling of victory saw the Redbacks team rally with a flurry of goals in the second half. Not to be outdone we stayed determined with further goals from Callum and Alana. The end score was 4-7 but the team had tremendous fun and were in high spirits. George received player of the match for his consistency and love of the game! Onwards and upwards to next week.

Stellar performance!

U6 Orange pulled a magical win out of the hat on Saturday morning with a dramatic score line of 14-3. With so many highlights it was the match of the season so far. Callum scored 10 goals cementing his role as the striker of the team. Ruby and George both had their first goals of the season which was a joy to watch their little faces in disbelief as the ball hit the back of the net. Max maintained a determined and strong defense despite copping a rogue ball in the face. Alana showed sensational ball skills and two brilliant goals. We couldn't be prouder of our little team as they kindly subbed off in the last 5 minutes of the game to give the Redbacks a chance at recovery and three quick goals. Player of the week to Ruby whose reaction at receiving it was priceless. Fun, fitness, kindness and lots of happy faces. A great way to start the weekend .

What a match!

A huge win for the Under 6 Orange on Saturday with an outcome of 8-1 at our home ground. It was a beautiful morning and with a 5 strong team we made the most of our substitutes to give everyone a lot of on field time. Alana and Callum dominated the goal scoring with 4 goals a piece. Ruby, George and Max provided a solid defense and some epic goal celebrations with headstands and forward somersaults! Everyone had a lovely morning. Check out the photos of our lovely little team on the Hills Hawks Facebook page.

First win for the mighty U5s!

A big morning for the U5s! After a delayed start as our opponents looked for players we played a strong first half with lots of goals from both teams. 3-3 at half time. The oranges and pep talk from coach Darren did the trick and the Hawks romped through the second half to a 8-6 victory. 6 goals and man of the match for Callum Reddie and some great play from Allana and Max both also scoring goals. George, Ruby and Zac provided brilliant defense - the whole team really showing the benefit of a few weeks of coaching. Great performance from U5! Cant wait until next week!
