Hayes Park No. 3

Last match a loss (

Unfortunately our last match of the season was a loss. Our boys tried really hard but our opponents stopped us at nearly every turn. The one goal we got was an amazing team effort with ball passing from goalie, to defenders to amour strikers. The boys didn’t give up and all of the parents have been so proud of them all season.

Win(2-1) against North Ryde SC

Magdala Oval No. 2

A win second time round.

Last time we played North Ryde SC they beat us, this time it was our turn. We thought we were the underdogs going into this match as we only had 9 players, and we also lost a player for part of the first half due to feeling ill. Our first goal was a nail biter with I think 5 attempts to get it into goal. Our boys once again demonstrated the beauty of soccer with amazing passing and great defense and goalie work. North Ryde SC boys also had some wonderful tackling and defense skills managing to gain the ball from us a number of times. Our lack of subs may have played in our favour as they boys had some great rhythm and communicated well during play.

A Soccer Poem

Today I decided to write a poem.
About our soccer game playing at home.
We had 10 boys warm and ready to play.
Would our 8 opponents stand in our way?

First goal came quick and was pretty easy.
Would the rest of the game be so breezy?
Lachlan lost his right shoe but kept in play.
Second goal, the game was going our way!

Great corner shots from Finn but none a goal.
James great dribbling and didn’t take a toll.
Caleb played well in many positions.
Our boys put on a good exhibition!

Goal by the others gave us a shudder.
Skies turned gray, could we hear rain and thunder?
Zane played midfield and supported the team.
Halftime, please don’t let us run out of steam!

Max was so happy when he played midfield.
But told off his mum and she had to yield.
Jack defended well with few balls astray.
Goal for other team will it go our way?

Josh took a big run and shot at the goal.
Nail biting but couldn’t quite find that hole.
Matt’s body took two balls in succession.
Ball was fairly equal in possession.

Goalie Marcus worked hard and saved some goals.
But another got through we saw how it rolls.
We finished so well and we were one up.
Every boy who played deserved a cup!

Loss(1-2) to WPH Cherrybrook FC

James Henty No. 2

A loss but all played really well.

It was a very cold start to the morning, but the boys started off well. In the first half they had numerous shots at goal but unfortunately none made it past the goalie. The opposing team were strong with good tackling, passing and positioning. The first goal they scored was well earned having seen some of our defense and goalie in the ground. Overall it was a very even match with each team scoring another goal each. Our attack did a lot of running, tackling and passing whilst our defense did a great job of keeping the ball away from goal with some amazing intercepts.

Good win, great play!

Our boys had some wonderful playing today and without any subs. There was lots of passing and great defense work. Jack P took on 5 boys at once managing to defend a goal. One of the beautiful plays saw the boys passing to at least 3 players before scoring a goal. It was wonderful to watch. Our coach was overheard to say “well coached boys, well coached”. Jack F also had an amazing goal from left side of field hooking it in and over the head of the goalie.

Win(3-2) against Pennant Hills FC

Hayes Park No. 3

Had our game on in the first half

Our games have mainly started at 8.30 this season, so a 10.30 start was luxurious. We also had 2 subs (Dylan and Jordan) from 10/4 due to absences within our team. Given our boys usually get off to a slow start we were all watching to see if a later start would mean more energy. They definitely started well, with great passing and positional play. Unfortunately for the other team they had an early hand ball meaning we had a shot at goal which we converted. We scored another 2 goals before half time. Second half our boys slowed and the Pennant Hills boys picked up pace. A ball straight into Lachlans face took him down and as some of the other boys ran to see if he was OK the other team scored. They scored a second goal which was an amazing shot, but we kept the pressure up and managed to hold them off for a win.

Great attack and defense today

Another cold start and it took everyone a while to warm up. Once warmed up our boys played a great game. The boys were passing, attacking and defending well. They are also getting much better at communicating with one another and rarely did we see the boys bunch up or attack the ball at the same time.
Unfortunately the other team were down a player but they still played really well. Whilst they got a number of shots at goal our goalies and defense were too strong.

Purple sock day but no play

It was a cold start to the morning but we had the field set up and the boys warmed up and ready to go. However, 8.30 came and went with no sign of West Ryde Rovers. Whilst it meant a win and an early mark for us we were a bit disappointed not to have played and gotten our purple socks dirty.

Good playing

The boys got off to a slow start, though Josh had a great goal from halfway after spinning around then kicking the ball! Following halftime the boys passing became much better. Lachlan and James filled in as goal keepers and made us proud, only lettting two goals past them. Final score 5-2.

Dreary day - rain and a loss

We finally had all 12 boys playing today, the first time in over a month but unfortunately this wasn’t enough to give us a win. The rain was a bit offputting and slowed the ball down. We also didn’t get into our usual rhythm with passing. We had a few great moments such as Jack Fraser’s corner kick setting up Matthew for a header to score a goal and Marcus doing a fantastic goalie save on the line (he also nearly managed the splits another time). We did however keep up our spirits and never gave up, which showed as at one stage we were down 0-3. Hopefully next week there will be sunshine and a win for us.

Just beaten.

We got off to a good start with a goal in the first couple of minutes but quickly followed with a goal by North Ryde. As we have seen in previous weeks when we got in the groove of passing we are amazing. We had lots of attempts at scoring but only able to score 3 goals overall, and North Ryde beat us by just one.

Epping North Public School

Beautiful day for a win

It was lovely morning for soccer. The boys started pre match by knocking a cup of coffee off the top of the goal posts onto one of our dads (all was OK). The boys started off slow with two goals in the first half (one being an own goal by North Epping) and North Epping scores one. Second half, post lolly snakes, they picked up and scored another 4 goals (unfortunately another own goal by North Epping) and North Epping scored one more. Towards end of game the boys started playing their positions much better and passing, hopefully they will keep this up in coming weeks.

Loss(2-4) to WPH Cherrybrook FC

Hayes Oval

A loss, but well played

After a run of six wins, today we had our first loss of the season. It was a tough game with no subs including our normal goalie being out. We still have Cherrybrook a good run - we were on the attack for most of the first half and scored the first goal. It was towards the middle of the second half where Cherrybrook finally overtook us and finished 2-4. We had some great attack, defense and goalie play and never gave up.

Win(3-2) against Beecroft FC

Carlingford Oval

We started slow but finished strong

We started a bit slow this week, going into half time 0-1 to Beecroft. Second half we picked up our game considerably improving our passing and teamwork skills which resulted in Caleb scoring quite quickly. Matthew scored the other two goals (one being an amazing kick into the corner of the goal). Talking about amazing, Marcus again got to show his goalie skills with some great saves including one that he took in the face. Beecroft kept the pressure on the entire game, scoring a second goal, and giving us a good run.

Another win for our boys!

Autumn has definitely hit us, and the boys took a bit of time to warm up. They played well with some good passing, with Pennant Hills making the boys work hard with their own passing skills. Our goalie Marcus played a great game which included an incredible save in the second half.

Win(4-2) against Northern HFC

Tuckwell Park

The rain didn’t stop us!

Whilst it drizzled on and off the whole game both teams played well. The boys were working hard but Northern HFC had managed to score 2 goals going into half time. Following a pep talk at half time spirits were lifted and the boys scored a goal within the first couple of minutes. This gave the boys momentum and they went on to score another 3 goals. Fantastic passing, set ups and defense work seen by all.

Under 10/2s on form again

Another fantastic match, with the boys winning 8-2. Unfortunately for West Ryde they started the game with an own goal, but from then on gave the boys a good workout. Matthew, Jack F, James, Max and Josh all scored goals this week with great passing and set ups by other team members. Again our goalies Marcus and Zane had some great saves.

Hard work pays off for Under 10/2s

With no subs the boys worked hard today for a well earned win. Our defense players, Jack P, Rorey and Josh did a great job and goalie Marcus showed his skills with a number of incredible saves. All the boys again showed amazing passing skills and their teamwork helped Jack F to score 3 goals and Finn to score 1.

Hills Hawks 10/2 off to a great start

Amazing start to the season winning 17-0 against All Saints Hunters Hill. Our goalies didn’t get to show off their skills much due to the great defense and attack work from all the boys. Though boys are still getting to know one another they worked well as a team with lots of passing. Looking forward to seeing how this team develops in the coming weeks.
